A picture of Ri before he was subjected to such horrible living conditions.
According to records found at the breeder’s house and website, Ri was a male long leg Minuet that was born on August 29, 2019. He was one of the worst conditioned cats to be found in the house. He was treated as less than garbage, probably because he was considered less of a “stud” than the other male cats. He was so emaciated and malnourished that he was nothing but skin and bones. When a rescuer living 11 hours away heard that he was still in the house after other rescuers had pulled out all the cats they could, she drove immediately to the house and met with police to gain access into the home to rescue not only Ri, but two other cats that were discovered still there. Ri and one of the other two cats were taken immediately to an emergency vet. There, they were stabilized for travel to the rescuer’s home. However, the rescuer had to stop at another emergency vet on the way home to give Ri and the other cat fluids and other care.
Ri saw a vet the following day and was given treatment for recovery at the rescuer’s home. However, the following day, the rescuer was concerned about his ability to stand and she took him to the vet again. There, the vets tried to get Ri to hold on, but he was too weak and his organs were already in the process of shutting down. With his rescuer by his side to give him comfort and love, Ri died from his injuries and illnesses.
We have given Ri this page as a memorial to his plight. This poor, once beautiful cat, knew only torment in his life. If he had only hung on a little while longer, he would have found a loving home to live out his natural life with. But he only knew the cruelty of humanity. His final days, at least, were filled with love and hope.
Ri, you have brought many people to tears for what happened to you. We hope you at least are at peace wherever you are.
Ri, the day he was rescued, in the cage he was kept, treated like garbage.
Ri’s ashes now reside with his rescuer.
