Rescued: Xena/Kaboodles

A picture of Xena before she was subjected to such horrible living conditions.

Xena has an unusual story. We do not know all there is about Xena because of the breeder’s website or records. We know about her because of her original owner.

With a bit of serendipity, Xena’s original owner contacted Garden of the Cats because she was told by a friend that one of the cats seen on social media as rescues from a hoarder/bad breeder looked like her cat. The original owner was able to give some very distinctive marks on her cat, which happened to match Xena to a tee. The original owner was horrified that her cat could have ended up in such a situation and insisted that she wanted her back. Xena was originally named Kaboodles and had come from several states away.

Xena/Kaboodles was in horrible condition and health. Her rescuer was not sure she would make it. She had a severe upper respiratory infection that was not responding to medication. As a long legged Minuet, she was horribly emaciated and weighed only a little over three pounds. If she made it, she was going to have a long road to recovery.

Xena/Kaboodles remains in the care of her rescuer/foster parent until she can be stabilized for travel home. As of Christmas, she just reached 4.1 pounds, but she is still suffering from her URI. While her condition appears to be improving, she is still considered too poor off to be moved to her first owner. However, her foster parent says she is incredibly sweet and loves to have attention. We are hoping that her positive attitude will play well in her recovery.

For reasons that are apparent, Xena/Kaboodles is not up for adoption.

Xena, the day she was rescued. While she may not appear to be too badly off, she was actually the second worst off cat, after Ri.
